Classic Meatballs

This classic meatball recipe can be used to make meatballs of any type of mince. The meatballs can be enjoyed on their own or can be part of another meal like pasta or shakshuka.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup fine fresh breadcrumbs
  • 60 ml milk
  • 500 g mince
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic crushed
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup parmesan finely grated plus extra to serve
  • 1/2 cup parsley finely chopped
  • 60 ml Extra virgin olive oil

Instructions
 

  • Place breadcrumbs in a small bowl and pour over milk. Set aside.
  • Place mince in a large bowl. Add onion, garlic, egg, parmesan, parsley, and season. Add breadcrumb mixture, then mix well to combine. Roll tablespoons of mixture into balls. Place on a large plate.
  • Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook meatballs, turning, for 10 minutes or until browned.
  • If adding to a sauce, cook meatballs over a medium-high heat for 5 minutes then reduce to medium-low heat. Simmer, covered, for 15 minutes or until meatballs are cooked through.

Notes

Fry soft ingredients and meat balls first
Add spicey (chilli)
Onion can be replaced with spring onion5
